SECTION LEADER (T6) 
FLSA Status: Nonexempt

NATURE OF JOB:
Under general supervision, provides leadership and technical expertise while coordinating assignments in a specific area within the Graphics Communications Center (GCC). The principal emphasis is on the efficient operation of presses, bindery, quick copy equipment and/or billing for services. Provides technical guidance to other staff. Requires independent judgment in the application of established policies and procedures.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on assignment, the following are typical examples of work: 

* Trains employees in the operation of equipment and procedures;
* Maintains good mechanical operation of equipment and/or initiates requests for service calls if necessary;
* Assumes operator duties as workload and time dictate;
* Assists in maintaining continuity of work flow; advises management of imminent operational difficulties to ensure that appropriate schedules dates are met;
* Ensures safety practices related to chemical hygiene and equipment operation are followed;
* Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner, storing all chemicals properly and  keeping aisles clear and accessible;
* Delegates work assignments and provides guidance to other staff as required;
* Calculates and enters data into billing systems; generates reports;
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with five years of experience in the printing industry. Additional related education may be substituted for required experience. Requires basic math skills including familiarity with standard measurements and conversions; ability to follow and give oral and written instructions and handle multiple tasks concurrently; demonstrated ability to use intermediate techniques in spreadsheet and/or database software as well as experience using billing software for the printing industry. Mechanical aptitude preferred. Requires knowledge and understanding of printing terminology, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively and to interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires the ability to lift, with or without assistance, a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and accurately discern colors and troubleshoot related problems.
