LEAD DATA ENTRY OPERATOR  (T6) 
FLSA Status: Nonexempt

NATURE OF JOB:
Under general supervision, keys and verifies data from a variety of source documents for input into University computing systems utilizing specialized equipment, software and desktop PCs. The principal emphasis is on prioritizing administrative and academic work flow to ensure efficient turnaround while working independently at the highest technical level in all phases of activities including security, confidentiality and data backup. 

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on divisional assignment, the following are typical
 
* Provides system supervisory functions;
* Operates data conversion equipment to generate and/or verify a large variety of subject matter information from many types of source documents;
* Outputs batches for scheduled runs, batch restores and daily system backup;
* Creates and maintains programs for keying systems;
* Assigns work; trains operators;
* Diagnoses operational problems;
* Directs communications and interaction with user and academic departments to resolve issues and errors;
* Maintains documentation of formats, procedures and programs;
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with four years of experience in data entry processing. Additional related education may be substituted for required experience. Requires knowledge of alphanumeric key recording devices; skill in programming and operation at the highest level; knowledge of office practices and principles; analytical skills; and the ability to communicate and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be available outside of normal working hours for problem resolution.
