FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under general supervision, provides technical support for the production of telecourses and live programming and for distribution via videotape, satellite, fiber and Internet. The principal emphasis is on setting up and operating television cameras, robotics control systems, video recorders, audio mixers and video switchers for capturing instructional programs. Independent judgment is required in identifying and selecting critical lesson content. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on unit assignment, the following are typical examples of work: * Records and/or encodes telecourses and other programming for distribution via tape, campus cable, fiber and the Internet; * Duplicates and/or edits video programs; * Serves as a member of the television production crew for location tape video production; * Instructs faculty and other clients in the use of ITV facilities; * Trains part-time ITV staff; * Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a vocational/technical specialization in television production and two years of progressively responsible experience in control room operation or an Associate’s degree or two years of college study in communication or television production and one year of experience. Must be able to perform basic camera, control room and videotape editing operations and have working knowledge of PC and Mac computers. Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions, to solve problems under time constraints and to work independently. Must be able to communicate effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires the ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, video and audio equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to accurately discern colors and the tone and volume of sound. Must have well-developed motor skill for camera operation.
