FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under general supervision, ensures that the technology in a variety of classrooms and auditoriums is in proper working condition. The principal emphasis is on performing operational checks and orienting faculty to the use of technology installed in classrooms. Independent judgment is required in the application of standard operating procedures. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on assignment, the following are typical examples of work: * Operates classroom audiovisual equipment and control systems; * Orients faculty in how to operate classroom audiovisual equipment and control systems; * Assists and trains faculty in configuring and connecting portable computers; * Checks performance of audiovisual equipment for proper operation and makes basic adjustments such as focus, audio level and tracking; * Troubleshoots audiovisual equipment to identify area of malfunction; * Performs basic maintenance on audiovisual equipment such as lamp replacement, head cleaning, cable/connector replacement, lens cleaning and lens replacement; refers more complex problems to next technical level; * Assists Classroom Technology Systems Technicians II and III in the installation and in-depth troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment and control systems; * Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a vocational/technical specialization in electronics, or the completion of an ICIA certificate training program in the use of audiovisual technology and one year of experience in the setup and operation of audiovisual technology. Requires basic computer literacy and knowledge of computing hardware and connections, the ability to follow oral and written instructions including manufacturers’ operation manuals, the ability to communicate effectively with people having various levels of technical expertise and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to solve problems under time constraints and the ability to work independently. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires the ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, audiovisual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
