PHOTOGRAPHER (T5) 
FLSA Status: Nonexempt

NATURE OF JOB:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled duties related to the photographic, public relations and public informational needs of the University. The principal emphasis is on skilled photographic duties using a high level of technical knowledge, artistic judgment and self-motivation. Requires independent judgments concerning photographic techniques and procedures. 

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on unit assignment, the following are typical

* Prepares and photographs University personnel for passports, applications, portraits and publicity;
* Prepares photographs used in illustrating various University publications;
* Photographs and produces slides and charts for various University units and departments;
* Photographs experiments and equipment;
* Scans photographs, negatives, and slides to convert to digital files; backs up files on CDs;
* Determines equipment and supply needs;
* Supervises student workers and miscellaneous wage employees;
* Advises University community on photographic service possibilities;
* Represents the unit to a wide range of contacts on and off campus;
* Performs other related duties as assigned.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES:
Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with photography course work and demonstrable experience in photographic techniques including digital photography. Some college photography course work preferred. Requires ability to develop and print black-and-white film; color film knowledge; intermediate knowledge of digital imaging equipment and related software; intermediate computer skills with demonstrated ability to create and maintain databases; ability to follow oral and written instructions, make independent judgments based on office practices and procedures, and communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be flexible in working hours. Requires the ability to lift and move, with or without assistance, camera equipment and to accurately discern colors and focus images. Requires a valid motor vehicle license.
