MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST (T4)

NATURE OF JOB:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties related to maintenance work and general repairs. The principal emphasis is on mechanical knowledge and repair skills for a variety of equipment including fitness equipment. Independent judgment is required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on unit assignment, the following are typical examples of work: 

* Inspects, maintains and cleans a variety of equipment (treadmills, stair masters, life cycle, restring racquets, regrip handles, etc.); performs minor repairs;
* Conducts and maintains computerized inventory records;
* Prepares and maintains computerized records of equipment;
* Assists in preparation and setting up/taking down equipment for special events;
* Requisitions equipment, supplies and related items required for the operation of the equipment room;
* Initiates billing procedures for lost, stolen or damaged equipment;
* Organizes and manages the equipment room; 
* Operates equipment required in the performance of duties;
* Issues, collects and maintains computerized records of lockers and locks;
* Issues, launders and maintains computerized records of cottons for faculty, staff, coaches, athletes and students;
* Inspects and assists in securing facility;
* Prepares reports as requested; 
* Performs other related duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with two years' experience/training which provide the required knowledge of general operation and repair of equipment. Requires basic computer, time management, organizational and record keeping skills, and the ability to work as a team member and communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
With or without assistance, must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds. Requires a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
