DUPLICATOR  OPERATOR (T4) 
FLSA Status: Nonexempt

NATURE OF JOB:
Under general supervision, performs skilled technical work on duplicator presses. May perform minor in-house mechanical repairs and routine maintenance and adjustments to duplicator equipment. The principal emphasis is on the production of high quality copies at established volume standards. 

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Depending on assignment, the following are typical examples of work: 

* Makes necessary sizing adjustments; may determine grain flow of paper stock for bindery purposes;
* Secures proof copy and makes necessary adjustments for clarity of print's copy;
* Maintains proper ink, water and feed controls;
* Performs maintenance and calibration adjustments;
* Removes, cleans and stores plates upon completion of job;
* Keeps records of work run, time, amount of run, etc.; prepares required reports;
* Provides guidance to student workers;
* May operate bindery equipment and make plates; performs special cutting work when necessary; 
* Performs other related duties as assigned. 
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES: Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with one year's experience in printing. Requires basic knowledge of duplicator operations and photographic platemaking procedures; basic math skills; familiarity with related chemicals, ink, paper stock and other tools of the trade; mechanical aptitude; technical judgment; and ability to work accurately, efficiently and independently and communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires the ability to lift, with or without assistance, up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. Requires the ability to accurately discern colors and troubleshoot related problems.
