FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under general supervision, operates a large power-driven paper cutting machine and other bindery equipment. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on assignment, the following are typical examples of work: * Operates and maintains large power computer driven paper cutter; * Cuts paper into various sizes from large mill-sized sheets; performs specialized cutting; * Operates and maintains bindery equipment; * Performs minor adjustments and routine repairs on mechanical equipment; * Orders, receives and distributes paper stock; * Pads, numbers and perforates printed sheets and forms; * Trains temporary workers; * Performs other related duties as assigned. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES: Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED and one year bindery experience. Requires technical or mechanical aptitude; basic math skills including ability to measure accurately; and ability to identify various types of paper, handle large mill-sized sheets of paper, follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively and to interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires the ability to lift, with or without assistance, up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
