FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under limited supervision, serves as primary contact person responsible for nurturing client relationships and turning inquiries into booked business. The principal emphasis is on promoting and renting facility space and selling event services. Independent judgment and discretion are required in negotiating the packaging of event services and space. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on divisional assignment, the following are typical * Builds/nurtures client relationships and closes sales with repeat business as goal; may include conducting site tours and participating in designated sales and marketing activities; * Assists client in event planning to include room assignments, dining, audiovisual, housing, and other event related needs; * Quotes prescribed rates and coordinates event logistics to correspond to requests and budgetary constraints of client; * Optimizes utilization of conference facilities; administers the conference event calendar; * Compiles statistical information for monthly sales reports; * Follows up on previous inquiries from potential clients; * Ensures adherence to University policies and procedures by clients; * Coordinates and manages smaller conference events; * Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent course work in a related field with five years of experience such as conference planning or hotel sales. Related progressive experience beyond a high school diploma or GED may be substituted for required education or additional related education may be substituted for required experience. Requires demonstrated sales ability; customer service; event management and planning; basic math and computer skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
