FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under immediate supervision, performs a variety of routine duties related to University services or facilities. The principal emphasis is on providing customer service while following established procedures. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on divisional assignment, the following are typical * Maintains records and inventories (e.g., food catering equipment, postal supplies and usage, cleaning supplies, etc.); * Collects data used in the preparation of reports; * Operates specialized equipment (e.g., two-way radio, postal meter, fax machine, kitchen equipment, cleaning equipment, etc.); * Cleans, maintains and makes minor repairs to equipment; * Trains students, volunteer or relief workers; * Assists in maintaining supplies, forms and miscellaneous materials; * Collects, sorts, bundles and delivers mail, equipment or media materials; * Prepares bulk mailings and processes business reply mail; * Processes outgoing U.S. mail through the electronic postal meter system; * Completes necessary postal documentation; * Operates fork lift truck; * Replenishes postal meters; * Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. One year of job related experience preferred. Requires the ability to perform basic math skills, learn operating rules and regulations of unit, and the ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May require possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license. May require the ability to lift, with or without assistance, up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. May require the wearing of personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes).
