FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under general supervision, performs complex and nonroutine records duties including research, analysis and compilation of statistics. The principal emphasis is on obtaining and verifying information of a specialized nature and/or the accurate data entry into major systems. Requires independent judgment and the ability to resolve nonroutine problems as well as interpret policy. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on divisional assignment, the following are typical * Researches and responds to routine and nonroutine inquiries; * Processes, reviews and analyzes reports, documents, and promissory notes to ensure conformance with University policies and/or legal guidelines and regulations; * May have signature authority within University guidelines; * Receives, reviews and corrects error reports; analyzes nonroutine problems with computing liaison; * Reviews, verifies and processes financial and nonfinancial documents; * Maintains and updates a variety of complex records and controls; * Performs computations, calculates values, develops estimates or verifies statistics; * Corresponds verbally and in writing to obtain information and resolve nonroutine issues and/or problems; * Provides guidance regarding University procedures; assigns and reviews work of others; * Maintains and updates unit's Web pages according to University standards; * Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with three years of responsible clerical/record processing and/or inventory control experience; and demonstrated customer service skills. Additional related education may be substituted for required experience. Broad knowledge of University systems, policies and procedures as well as applicable federal and state regulations preferred. Requires ability to create and maintain databases, spreadsheets and documents; demonstrated ability to use intermediate word processing techniques; hands-on experience with electronic information systems; and the ability to communicate and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May need to pass data entry test. Some positions may require the ability to lift and carry, with or without assistance, boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, climb ladders up to 4 1/2 feet, and bend and reach to place boxes on shelves.
