FLSA Status: Nonexempt Revised July 1, 1999 NATURE OF JOB: Under general supervision, provides customer service and performs routine clerical duties. May serve as initial office contact for students, parents, visitors, etc. The principal emphasis is on performing basic clerical and records related duties. Independent judgment is required in the application of established procedures in routine matters. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Depending on divisional assignment, the following are typical examples of work: * Prepares forms, letters, memoranda, contracts, invoices, etc. from drafts; * Inputs, reviews and updates information by accessing databases; * Searches files and records for a variety of source materials to serve as background information for reports; * Opens, processes and routes daily mail; * Duplicates and assembles materials; * Operates standard office equipment; * Receives requests, resolves routine complaints and problems; refers nonroutine problems to appropriate person(s); * Completes billing forms and collects cash and checks for various fees and charges; issues receipts; * Classifies and codes source documents; * Prepares statistics and/or completes scheduled reports in established format; * Prepares and maintains files; * Assists with special clerical projects as required; * Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with one year's clerical and/or customer service experience. Additional related education may be substituted for required experience. Requires knowledge of office practices and procedures and business English; a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; basic word processing and computer skills; and the ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
