- PO Box
- The University of Delaware's P.O. Box application allows UD faculty and staff to send messages to lists of students (class rosters, major mailing lists, minor mailing lists, etc.) without allowing spammers to flood those "e-mail lists" with unnecessary junk messages. Find it at this location: https://po-box.nss.udel.edu/
P.O. Box works with the following web browsers:
Firefox 1.5 and later (Mac/Windows/Vista)
Opera 9 and later (Mac/Windows/Vista)

OmniWeb 5.0 and later (Mac)

- Send large files to others through e-mail. The UD Dropbox offers an alternate solution through which you can exchange files with others, whether they have a UDelNet ID or not. https://pandora.nss.udel.edu
https://www.udel.edu/topics/dropbox/- Server hosting
- Through IT-hosted server virtualization, University departments can realize greater efficiencies and economies of scale by migrating stand-alone servers spread throughout campus to virtualized servers in the Chapel Street Computing Center.
Server virtualization is a "green" technology because many virtual servers run in one physical box. Not only does this technology use less energy, it has the added benefits of taking up less space, and costs less to buy than individual physical servers.
Virtual servers can easily be custom-configured with anywhere from 2–8 CPUs, 1–8 GB memory, and the choice of one of several popular operating systems.
University departments with inefficient, stand-alone servers in closets or classrooms—each with its own power and cooling —may want to consider virtualizing their old servers.
