Applying to the Program
Application Process Information
Applications may be submitted at your convenience. However, we suggest you submit your application as early as possible since classes fill quickly. Applications must be accompanied by a $50 non-refundable application fee, payable in cash, check, money order, or cashier's check.

A complete application consists of the Summer College Application - including essays; two recommendations if you are a current junior or three recommendation forms if you are a current sophomore; complete high school transcript including your current year's grades to date; PSAT/SAT scores; and the non-refundable application fee.
Applications received after May 15 will be considered on a space available basis.
Once accepted, a student will be invoiced for the Program Fee. The Program Fee, less financial aid, scholarships, fee reductions, and payments against the Program Fee must be paid in full by June 15.
Admitted students will receive more information in mid-June including their course schedule, room assignment, and packing suggestions.

Eligibility
** Please read the Eligibility information in its entirety before completing the Confidential Financial Aid Request form and/or Summer College Application Form.**
High school students who will have completed their sophomore or junior year by June 2012 are eligible to apply to Summer College. Applicants must demonstrate strong academic ability (as demonstrated by a rigorous high school curriculum), interest, and initiative. Social maturity and a sense of responsibility to oneself and to others are extremely important since students manage their own daily schedule, including moving on and off campus and organizing study, sleep and recreational hours.

Fees and Aid
Fees
Summer College is an excellent value! The Program Fee covers tuition
for your courses, the room and board plan, library privileges, lab
fees, and all group recreational costs. It does NOT include the cost
of books, any meals obtained off campus, the fee for Private
Music Study, or spending money.
Delaware Resident Program Fee: $3,500
* The Delaware Department of Education
provides funding that allows a Program Fee reduction for Delaware
residents.
Non-Resident Program Fee: $6,500
In addition, there is a non-refundable $50 Application Fee which can be paid with cash, check, money order, or cashier's check.
The Program Fee may be paid with cash, check, money order, cashier’s
check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express.)
Fee Waiver
Parents or legal guardians who are University of Delaware employees
should call the Summer College office at (302) 831-6560 to learn
how they may use their Course Fee Waiver benefit for Summer College tuition.
Scholarships
A limited number of academic merit scholarships are available to qualified Summer College
students. All students are considered for scholarship awards; there
is no separate application process.
Financial Aid
Students demonstrating both outstanding academic ability and financial
need are given first priority for financial aid. International students
are not eligible for financial aid due to the differences between
national currencies and the difficulty in assessing need.
To apply for financial aid, students and parents/legal guardians
must complete the Confidential Financial Aid Request form and return it postmarked by May 1. Please read the entire "Eligibility"
section below before completing the Confidential Financial Aid Request
form.
Please note: The Summer College Application form and
application fee must be submitted prior to or in conjunction with
the Confidential Financial Aid Request form.
Financial
need has no bearing on admission decisions to Summer College; therefore, the Summer College office will NOT
evaluate the Confidential Financial Aid Request form before
making an admissions decision.
Since Summer College has limited financial aid resources, you
are encouraged to explore other aid options locally and at the following
(nonendorsed) web sites if you need further assistance in affording
Summer College:
published by the CollegeBoard organization, provides many resources
for parents and students
- www.scholarships.com,
a free college scholarship search website
- www.wiredscholar.com,

- www.fastweb.com, another
free college scholarship search website
- www.wwscholars.org/ellis/about-ellis.php, mission is to provide grants to girls enrolled in high school in Philadelphia County, PA, from single-parent families, in need of aid to complete their high school education
NOTE: Delaware residents, it is unfortunate, but Ferguson Scholarships
cannot be used for Summer College fees.
Residency
A prospective Summer College student must meet residency requirements to be able to pay the resident Program Fee. Generally, this means the student must have been domiciled in Delaware for a minimum of 12 months prior to July 2012.
Please note that a student who is not domiciled in Delaware but attends a private school in Delaware is considered a non-resident
and must pay the non-resident Program Fee.
Students who do not have a Permanent Resident Visa are considered
non-residents regardless of how long they have attended school or
lived in Delaware and must pay the non-resident Program Fee.
Medical Information
Summer College students have access to the Newark or Christiana
Hospital Emergency rooms and local hospitals for serious
medical care, and local walk-in clinics for non-emergency care. While the program purchases a basic accident and sickness
insurance policy for Summer College students, parents or legal guardians
are ultimately responsible for their student’s health insurance
and payment of all uncovered medical costs. More information and
health forms will be made available to students who are accepted
to the Summer College program.
