The Reason I chose UD: I felt UD would be a good fit for me because of all the academic opportunities the University would be able to provide for me. I fell in love with the campus and all the possibilities the school offered. I was also excited that UD offers so many study abroad options, because going abroad to Italy, which I did during the Winter of my junior year, has always been a dream of mine.
Most influential UD professor: Dr. Norma Gaines-Hanks of the HDFS Department taught me what it truly meant to be a Human Services major. In her class I learned so much about the field I am pursuing, and had an excellent "Honors Experience." The Honors project I completed for her class had me work harder than I ever have, but I learned SO much from it. She is an amazing teacher who expects a lot from her students, because she knows what we can get out of a classroom experience like hers. She commands respect yet is approachable and incredibly helpful. Next semester I will be completing a 400-hour internship under her coordination, and I am so excited to work with her again.
Favorite Honors experience: Living in Honors housing freshman year. I loved being in Russell and cannot imagine what my freshman year would have been like without the experience of living there.
I couldn't imagine the UD Honors Program without . . . Kristin Bennighoff. She was unbelievably helpful as I was trying to figure out my coursework and credits during multiple semesters, and I am still grateful for her help. I know I am not the only student who has benefitted from her patience, approachability and great assistance.
At UD, I am most involved in . . . my sorority (Delta Gamma), tutoring at the Academic Enrichment Center, and Il Circolo Italiano, the Italian club on campus.
What does the UDHP mean to me? To me, the UD Honors Program means hard work and an extension of my education.
When I'm up late studying . . . I crave a Chai Latte from BrewHaHa
My favorite Honors Program and UD traditions are . . . I love UD Homecoming. I think it's a really special day, and I love seeing all of my friends who have graduated, and getting to spend that weekend with them!
