Microsoft Office Open XML File Format Converter for Mac   (5/16/07)

  • Microsoft has announced the availability of a file converter that will enable a user to convert Office Open XML files created in Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows into a format compatible with Microsoft Office for the Mac 2004 and Microsoft Office v.X for Mac. You can convert files singly or in a batch. The Office Open XML Converter can convert the following Office Open XML file formats:
    Word Document (*.docx)
    Word Macro-Enabled Document (*.docm)
     
  • The files are converted to Rich Text Format (RTF), which can be opened in Microsoft Word 2004 and Microsoft Word X.
  • This is a beta release and there are some issues that exist. There are discussed, along with the system requirements and installation instructions, on the download page here:  http://tinyurl.com/3ysg57

    The beta release expires on 12/31/2007.
