E-mail Help


To read your University e-mail, you must have:

  1. An Active E-mail Account
     
  2. A Program that allows you to read and send e-mail
     
    • The University of Delaware provides support and assistance for the e-mail software listed below.
    • Other e-mail programs may be used, but the University cannot provide assistance for them.
       
    Software NOT requiring prior computer configuration
      Webmail Direct    - UD's preferred e-mail client, accessible through any Internet web browser at  http://mail.udel.edu.         How to Use Webmail Direct

    First-time users:  Complete this one-time setup to establish preferences and activate the E-mail spam filter. Once activated, check your Junk Mail folder daily to verify that valid mail has not been misdirected there.
      Pine      - runs on UD's central e-mail server, accessible from any internet-connected computer.         How to Use Pine

    Students may forward their UD mail to another e-mail account (like AOL or hotmail - see "Frequently requested functions" below), however consider these warnings:
    1. Forwarded mail is NOT secure once it leaves the University's mail server.
    2. Some faculty members require class mail to be sent from a student's UD mail account.
    3. Make sure AOL controls or Hotmail/Yahoo filters do not filter UD e-mail to a Junk mail folder.
    4. Send a test e-mail to your UD address and verify that you have received it in your other account.
