About the program

For Returning Students

Kent/New Castle in South Central campus will be designated as a substance free residence hall for the 2012-2013 academic year. Kent is an air-conditioned, coed-by-floor residence hall with double rooms as well as a few permanent triples. New Castle is a coed by floor residence hall with single and double rooms.

This Theme Housing Option is for students who are willing to make an affirmative commitment to maintain an environment free from tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. All students assigned to this area must sign an agreement that they and their guests will maintain a substance free environment.

In addition, by submitting this form, you are agreeing to the following statements:

  • I shall not use alcohol or tobacco INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE RESIDENCE HALL.

  • I shall not allow those who visit me in my residence hall to use alcohol or tobacco in the residence hall.

  • If my behavior or that of my guests is found to be in violation of the expectations of the Smoke- and Alcohol- Free living area, I may be reassigned to another residence hall WHEN A SPACE BECOMES AVAILABLE.

There will be no programmatic requirements for students who wish to live in this building, but the Residence Life staff will offer programs of interest to residents.

Priority for assignments will be given to the students who have lived on campus the most semesters and those who currently live in this Theme Housing Option.
