This policy is part of the 2008-2009 Academic Year Student Housing Agreement.

University-Initiated Cancellations

Housing Assignment Services reserves the right to change or cancel your room assignment without prior notification if you fail to register, pay or maintain academic status.

Your Student Housing Agreement may be canceled if:

• You are dismissed for academic reasons.
  
• You fail to pay University bills by the established deadlines.
  
• You are not properly registered at the end of the free drop/add period for the period for which you have applied for housing. (If Housing Assignment Services initiates your release for the spring semester, you will be charged a $100 late cancellation fee.)
  Note: In these cases, if you subsequently re-enroll for classes, you may reapply for housing, but housing will not be guaranteed. If a University-initiated cancellation occurs between the fall and spring semester and you re-enroll, you once again become obligated to the Student Housing Agreement.
  
• You fail to sign in or occupy your assigned residence hall space by 9 p.m. on the day prior to the first day of classes. Housing Assignment Services will automatically cancel your specific room assignment--unless you notify staff in writing of late arrival date at least five days before the official residence hall opening. If your assignment is canceled, Housing Assignment Services will reassign you to another space if requested by the student. Even if you do not move on campus, you will still be responsible for the full cost of your residence hall space and your Dining Services Agreement for the academic year. If no space is available on campus, you will be released from the Student Housing Agreement and you will have no further financial obligation or claim under that agreement.

Termination Due to Disciplinary Action
If you are removed from the University as a result of a disciplinary action for behavior that did not occur in a residence hall, you are eligible to receive a pro-rated rebate, in accordance with the rebate policy.

If you are removed from the University as a result of a disciplinary action for behavior that did occur in a residence hall, you will be responsible for the financial cost of your space for the remainder of the term in which your disciplinary action is finalized, but you may be released from subsequent terms if any remain in your period of agreement.

If you withdraw from the University before a final disciplinary decision is made to suspend you from the University, you will still be responsible for the financial cost of the space for the remainder of the term in which the disciplinary action is finalized.

If a disciplinary decision is made to suspend you from the University after December 20 but before the beginning of Spring semester, you will be billed the $100 late cancellation fee.

If your Student Housing Agreement is terminated by judicial or Housing Policy action because you violated policies in a residence hall, you will be held responsible for the full cost of your residence hall space and your Dining Service Agreement for the remainder of the academic year even if the space is reassigned.

If you are removed from the residence hall for disciplinary reasons, appeals are made only through the judicial or proprietary system. The housing agreement appeal process cannot be used in place of or in addition to any appeal process established for disciplinary cases.
