Location and Convenience

We take your education as seriously as you do, allowing you to concentrate on the business of being a student. A car isn’t necessary. Laundry facilities are on the premises. Classrooms, public computer sites, the library, two University Centers, convenience stores, restaurants, banks, and drugstores are all within walking distance. Grocery stores and shopping centers are accessible by public transportation.

We take care of the facilities. When something in your room or apartment needs attention, one phone call is all it takes. Our comprehensive security program includes security screens on all ground- and first-floor windows and access systems that allow main entries to be locked 24 hours a day. A state of the art fire alarm/suppression system in the buildings combines smoke detection with a sprinkler system for maximum protection of life and property. The smoke and heat alarms in every building are wired into a central reporting system.

All graduate student and family housing includes the following at no extra charge:

Local telephone service- bring your touch-tone telephone and enjoy free features including call hold, call waiting, and automatic call back.
Voice Mail- Each student has a private voice mailbox and each room or apartment has voice-mail answering service.
Utilities- Heat, air conditioning, electric and water are all included.
Data- Install an Ethernet card and network software in your computer and take advantage of high-speed access to the campus network and the Web.
Cable TV- Connect your TV and FM radio to the cable and enjoy quality radio and 61 TV channels including the major networks, "super stations," satellite channels (i.e., CNN, ESPN, MTV, SCOLA), and University channels.
All buildings have convenient, low-cost laundry facilities.
Parking is not included in the rental rate. However, a resident student parking permit can be purchased. Contact the Department of Public Safety for details at (302) 831-1184.

Competitive rates

Our rates compare favorably to off-campus housing rates. In fact, a recent survey indicated that Graduate Student and Family Housing is a good value for your money. First, you avoid the expense of utility and security deposits. Then you write just one check- the same amount every month- to pay for rent, utilities, local phone, and cable TV service.

Normally, the Graduate Student and Family Housing Agreement runs from August 15 of one calendar year through July 31 of the following calendar year. The start date of the Agreement may be delayed if you check in, or if a space is not available until after August 15. The end date of the Graduate Student and Family Housing Agreement will always be July 31. For those renewing their agreement, the dates will be August 1 to July 31. In August, your rent will be pro-rated based upon your date of check-in. If you are graduating in December or May, you will be released from your Agreement. See the Agreement for details at www.udel.edu/has/gradAgreement/release.html.

Community: the deciding factor

The residents of Graduate Student and Family Housing are at the center of the University community and close to its resources. The sense of a common goal - an educational mission - provides a comfortable, productive environment in which to pursue your degree.

NOTE: Renovations are planned for the Conover West building in the summer of 2008. The lease, the Graduate Student and Family Housing Agreement, will be terminated at the end of the Spring Semester, June 1, rather than July 31. Residents assigned to the Conover West building must make plans to relocate to another location with all of their household goods for the summer or until the renovations are complete. We will be in touch with all of the details regarding the renovations. Current residents will have priority for reassignment to apartments in areas that are not occupied.
