Alpha Xi Delta, founded at Lombard College on April 17, 1893, established its Theta Gamma chapter at the University of Delaware in October of 1989. Alpha Xi Delta encourages their women to "Realize Their Potential." The individuality of each sister, along with the talents and interests she contributes, helps make our sorority a strong sisterhood. We are a fun, diverse group of women with a common bond- a love for Alpha Xi Delta. Alpha Xi Delta is honored to be one of the many sororities to have achieved a top score in CAP and a Gold status from Fraternity and Sorority Life, here at University of Delaware, among other recognitions.
In 2008, Alpha Xi Delta partnered with Autism Speaks, creating a philanthropic union. As the world's largest autism advocacy organization, Autism Speaks is dedicated to increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders, to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatments for autism, and to advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. Alpha Xi Delta college chapters and alumnae associations across the country are committed to raising autism awareness in their communities and fundraising in support of Autism Speaks. In particular, our chapter and associations work to support Autism Speaks' signature fundraising and awareness event, Walk Now for Autism. With one in 110 children diagnosed with autism and no known cure, Alpha Xi Deltas are committed to improving the lives of children and families affected by autism. This past fall, Theta Gamma chapter raised over $11,000 for Autism Speaks, the most out of any Alpha Xi Delta chapter nation-wide.
Alpha Xi Deltas also know how to have fun! We get to know other chapters through social events, such as, mixers, barbeques, sporting events, and pairing with a fraternity for Homecoming and Greek Week. This is a great opportunity to meet others on campus and for everyone to get to know the sisters that make up Alpha Xi Delta.
Joining Alpha Xi Delta is more than a four-year commitment- it’s an opportunity to make life-long friends, get involved with community service, career network, and share in the fun of a dynamic group. When you become a sister of Alpha Xi Delta, the experiences and memories you make with your sisters, last for not only your college years, but a lifetime.
