Graduate Catalog 1993-1994 Student Life and Activities Office of Minority Affairs The Office of Minority Affairs was established to assist in the development of educational opportunities at the University for minority persons (black Americans, Hispanics, native Americans). Under the leadership of the Assistant Vice President for Affirmative Action and Multicultural Programs, the office seeks to foster a greater awareness and understanding of racial issues that will promote an improved environment for all students, faculty, and staff. As part of its charge, the office supports the following efforts: Black Freshman and Transfer Student Orientation, the Minority Scholars Program, Travel Fund for Black Undergraduate and Graduate Students, the Black Student of Promise Reception, and the UD/NCAA National Youth Sports Program. In addition, the office monitors the retention status of black students and serves as an advocate for multicultural concerns.
