Office of Minority Affairs

The Office of Minority Affairs was established to assist in the
development of educational opportunities at the University for
minority persons (black Americans, Hispanics, native Americans). Under
the leadership of the Assistant Vice President for Affirmative Action
and Multicultural Programs, the office seeks to foster a greater
awareness and understanding of racial issues that will promote an
improved environment for all students, faculty, and staff. As part of
its charge, the office supports the following efforts: Black Freshman
and Transfer Student Orientation, the Minority Scholars Program,
Travel Fund for Black Undergraduate and Graduate Students, the Black
Student of Promise Reception, and the UD/NCAA National Youth Sports
Program. In addition, the office monitors the retention status of
black students and serves as an advocate for multicultural concerns.
