What to Bring to Governor's School
  • Clothing. Typical dress codes of most schools are applicable for everyday apparel.
    • Shorts, jeans, shirts, t-shirts are fine.
    • Sweater or sweatshirt, as the air-conditioned classrooms can be cold.
    • One ‘dressy’ outfit for the Closing Ceremony.
    • At least one pair of closed-toed shoes (sneakers, loafers, etc.)
    • Sunglasses and sunscreen for the outdoor activities.
  • Dormitory Items. Students are responsible for single sized sheets, blankets, pillows, towels and wash cloths. No linens are provided.
    • The dorm rooms are air-conditioned so you will need a blanket.
    • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.)
    • Alarm clock
    • Change for the soda/snack machines
  • Instrumental Students. Bring your hand-carried instruments.
  • Medical Issues. Students taking prescriptions must have the medications in the original prescription bottle labeled with their name, medication name, physician and dosage. Documentation of being on a prescribed medication must be noted on the Emergency Treatment Form. Students with asthma, please don't forget to bring your inhalers.
  • Field Trips. All Academic Field Trips are scheduled for Wednesday. Students going on the following trips or who are participating in specified programs should come prepared as follows:
    • Marine Science Field Trip: wear old clothes and shoes; a hat and sunscreen; bathing suit, towel, and dry clothes for the ride home.
    • Sports and Exercise Science Field Trip: Come prepared with a bathing suit. Students with asthma are to bring inhalers.
  • Visual Arts: Please come prepared to wear clothing suitable for working in the art studio and bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and hats for your protection during the outside field trip activities.
  • Theatre Program: Students are to continue practicing in order to be prepared with their monologue that they used for their audition.
  • Sports Enthusiasts: Basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts and other outside recreation will be available during designated times. Basketballs and volley balls will be provided. Students may bring their own sports equipment such as tennis rackets/tennis balls.
