Martin Kramer is editor of the Middle East Quarterly and past director of the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University. An authority on contemporary Islam and Arab politics, Dr. Kramer earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Near Eastern studies from Princeton University. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, Cornell University, and Georgetown University. On two occasions, Dr. Kramer has been a fellow of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, and he has been a three-time fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy. His authored and edited books include Islam Assembled; Shi'ism, Resistance and Revolution; Middle Eastern Lives; Arab Awakening and Islamic Revival; The Islamism Debate; The Jewish Discovery of Islam; and the new Ivory Towers on Sand: The Failure of Middle Eastern Studies in America.
