New York Times columnist Nicholas D. Kristoff will be the first speaker in UD's America and the Global Community series. Mr. Kristoff will speak under the title "From Baghdad to Beijing: Does the U.S. Shape the World?" at 7:30 pm, Mitchell Hall, on Wednesday, October 2, 2002. The event is free and open to members of the University and local community.
Kristoff, who comes to Delaware fresh from a trip to Baghdad, is a veteran New York Times journalist who has traveled extensively since September 11, 2001 in the Middle East and Asia, assessing U.S. foreign policy impacts in the Arab and Muslim worlds. His columns appear regularly on Tuesdays and Fridays. He was previously a senior editor and the Times' bureau chief in China.
President David P. Roselle and Acting Provost Dan Rich invite all faculty, staff, and students to attend this first event of the America and the Global Community series. Supported by the UNIDEL Foundation, this series aims to better acquaint the University community with global challenges facing the United States today.
Kristof will meet with UD students at 3:30p.m. in Rm. 205 Gore Hall before his public appearance at 7:30 p.m. at Mitchell Hall.
