The Global Village is getting smaller by the day. International topics such as these are constantly in the news. That's why students like you are inspired to pursue studies from an international perspective, or to learn about civilizations that are very different from your own. The Area Studies programs at the University of Delaware provide an opportunity for coherent and systematic study of Africa, East Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Islamic world.
Many career opportunities are open to students who major and minor in Area Studies. Because of their in-depth knowledge, graduates of these programs often find employment in government, non-governmental organizations and aid agencies, education, and international business and banking. In addition, training in one of these programs provides a solid foundation for graduate study.
