Parents and Family Weekend a Success!
More than 2,500 family members descended on the UD campus October 15-17 for Parents and Family Weekend 2010.
The weekend featured exciting events that brought families together to explore and experience UD life. Friday evening, author Ed Okonowicz (UD ’69, ’83M) and historian Mike Dixon spooked students and family members with tales of our campus’s haunted history. That same evening, comedians Seth Meyers and Steven Wright entertained over 3,000 attendees of the Parents and Family Weekend Comedy Show.
Saturday morning, families gathered on The Green for the Parents and Family Welcome Social, where they mingled with President Harker, Parents Fund Council members, senior administration, academic deans, and Student Life representatives. Later in the day, 800 family members showed their support for the Fightin’ Blue Hens at a pre-game picnic before heading to the UD vs. Rhode Island football game. Family members also attended various Connect With Your Student’s College events, where they met administrators and faculty from their student’s college.
Parents and Family Weekend wrapped up on Sunday with a University-style brunch held in the dining halls. We hope that all of our UD parents and family members in attendance had a great time and are looking forward to next year’s Parents and Family Weekend!
