This problem was written with the following objectives in mind:

  • Develop an understanding of the interaction of the various systems of the human body and how the pathology of one of the four basic tissues of the body can have a profound effect on total body homeostasis.
  • Develop an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of skeletal muscle.
  • Develop an understanding of the metabolism of skeletal muscle.
  • Develop an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system.
  • Develop an understanding of the pathology of exertional rhabdomyolysis.

Overall objectives:

  • Increase overall problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, bather and evaluation information, and develop solutions.
  • Develop effective knowledge-acquisition skills.
  • Develop better team skills.
  • Increase communication skills.
  • Increase self-assessment skills.
  • Increase overall ability to identify, find and use appropriate resources.
