Response from Facilitators to Questions Received

Thank you for attending the Newark Senior Center
presentation Making Your Medications Work for You!

We are pleased that you are concerned about using your medications correctly and that you have taken the time to forward a question to us. Information regarding your specific medication question is enclosed. In addition, the material provided should help you answer these six medication questions:

  1. What is the name of the medicine and what is it supposed to do?

  2. How and when do I take it -- and for how long?

  3. What foods, drinks, other medicines, or activities should I avoid while taking this medicine?

  4. Are there any side effects and what do I do if they occur?

  5. Will this new prescription work safely with the other prescription and nonprescription medicines I am taking?

  6. Is there any written information available about the medicine?

Remember, never take any new prescription or non-prescription medication until you have and understand the answers to these questions. If you have additional questions about your medication therapy now or in the future we encourage you to ask the person who prescribed the medication or your pharmacist. You are the most important member of your health care team!
