My teaching duties at the University of Delaware have included physical
and
historical geology, invertebrate paleontology, micropaleontology (M.S. and
students), paleoceanography, and seminars in paleobiology (topics vary). I
make frequent visits to local schools to demonstrate fossil specimens and grant frequent interviews (in person and over the phone) to grade school students
regarding the profession of paleontology. I am also regularly invited to give
guest lectures in courses (e.g., Evolution) taught by colleagues in other
departments.
In addition, I established an undergraduate paleobiology concenration
within
the Geology Department (effective April, 1989). The concentration falls under
the aegis of the B.A. degree in geology. Several students are currently
enrolled in the program. Students are required to participate in ongoing
research projects or develop and conduct their own research effort.
