Dr. Fred T. Hofstetter's Résumé
 |
|
I am Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of Delaware.
My career goal is to help make multimedia easy enough for everyone to become
a creator, not just a consumer, of multimedia. Recently, I have been developing
a Web-based educational environment called Serf
that makes it possible to create, deliver, communicate, and assess multimedia
course content over the Web.
I have been developing multimedia tools and techniques since 1970. This
résumé summarizes my life's work according to the following
categories, which you can select to find out more:

What Fred Is Working On Now
-
Sakai. I am devoting considerable time to exploring Sakai, which the University of Delaware has adopted for widespread use on campus. Some of my ideas and opinions about Sakai are in a movie that is freely available at www.udel.edu/fth/sakai. My presentation at the Virginia Tech Regional Sakai Conference is freely available in the conference vault.
- Multimedia Literacy. I am working to redevelop the multimedia literacy course as a Web environment instead of a textbook.
- Advanced Multimedia and Web Design. I am redeveloping these courses into an educational technology course portal at www.udel.edu/fth/courses.
- Serf. Serf is a Web-based teaching and learning environment. I am continuing to develop new features for Serf, which runs
as a Web application under the Microsoft .NET framework.
- Curriculum. I am working with my ed tech faculty colleagues to offer
graduate programs in educational technology at the master's and doctoral levels.
-
Mountain Bikes. New "personal bests" are stimulating the biking
industry through continual tuning and upgrading of high-end mountain bike
