Certificate Programs

The Foreign Language Certificate and the Honors Foreign Language Certificate are intended to enhance the international dimension of the University of Delaware Bachelor's degree by providing students with direct exposure to a foreign language and culture in an immersion setting.

To earn a Bachelor's degree with a Foreign Language Certificate or an Honors Foreign Language Certificate in French, German, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish, a student is required to complete a designated sequence of four courses at the 200 and 300-levels. This is accomplished through a combination of two courses taken during Winter or Summer Sessions in France, Martinique, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, or Costa Rica, and two courses taken on the Delaware campus.

Students pursuing a major or minor in the language of the certificate are not eligible to earn these certificates.
