To copy videotapes (NTSC to NTSC) or to convert from
PAL or Secam to NTSC using the dubbing system in FLMC Room 212

Note:  S refers to the Samsung VCR, labeled Source, D refers to the Quasar VCR, labeled Destination.

1. With power off on S and D, use the channel buttons to make sure the Panasonic TV/VCR is set to channel 3.  Power S and D on.

2. Use the TV/VCR button on S and D to make sure that it is set to VCR on both machines.  The green VCR light will be on.

3. Use the channel button on the Quasar VCR to make sure D is set to Line. S can be set to any channel.

4.  Check the Samsung VCR on the right of the pull-down controls, for the OUTPUT buttons.  Set it to NTSC.  Whether the source videocassette (i.e. the video you want to copy) is in PAL or Secam (i.e. European format), or NTSC (American format), the OUTPUT on S must be set to NTSC.  The green light by NTSC will go on.

5. Insert source videocassette in S, and destination videocassette in D.

6. Press the REC button on D, and then press the PLAY button on S.

7. If the tape ejects from D, it needs copy protection removed.  Use a piece of tape to cover the copy spot on the videotape.
