Text with the HP ScanJet 6300C on PC bologna in the FLMC
Scanning from Microsoft Word 97
Place your text document in the ScanJet 6300c
face down in the top right corner of the scanner (there is an
arrow).
Open the Windows Applications folder. Open
Microsoft
Word 97.
Check the setings: click File, then Acquire
Text Settings. A window will open with four tabs: OCR, Scanner,
Format and Direct OCR. Make sure the following buttons are selected,
and leave the rest alone: in Format, make sure Single Column
and Retain font and paragraph formatting are selected. In Direct
OCR, make sure Draw zones automatically is selected.
Click File, then Acquire Text. The
scanner will now scan the document.
After the document has been scanned into Word,
you can edit, spell check, modify, save, etc.
Scanning from OmniPage Pro
Place your text document in the ScanJet 6300c
face down in the top right corner of the scanner (there is an
arrow).
Open the Development Tools folder. Open
OmniPage
Pro.
Check the Document Source, Original Layout, Output
Format and Export Destination settings in the OmniPage window to see that
they are set as desired.
Click on the large green Start button in the
upper right corner of the OmniPage window.
The scanner will now scan and select the text.
If the selection of text is not what you wished,
you can manually select the text by clicking and dragging around the text
in the Image View window and clicking the green button again.
You may now be asked to enter a name to save
the file as, select the location and name and click Save.
Congratulations! You can now edit and save what you
have scanned.
