Nuevas Dimensiones

 

Nuevas Dimensiones is a 2 CD-ROM set created by the Institute for Academic Technology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in partnership with IBM.

 

 

 

 

This CD-ROM set accompanies the Heinle & Heinle textbook Nueves Dimensiones. The CONTENT page lists the chapter topics. Each chapter includes the several dialogues or monologues which focus on a particular aspect of the spoken language, plus a Cultural dialogue, plus a set of exercises.

The strength of this CD-ROM set is that it provides video segment after video segment of Spanish-speakers in ordinary dialogue. You hear men, women, boys, girls, all ages of people talking in their natural rhythm and accent. Conversations may include people speaking at the same time, or one on top of the other with barely time to sort out who says what. The program warns you of this. The videos are accompanied by text which esplains what you will be hearing, gives a review of vocabulary, and provides translation of the Spanish spoken in the video segment.

It looks like a decent way to get lots of experience immersing yourself in the language as a listener.

This program could easily be used without the accompanying textbook.
