The Foreign Language Media Center
Software & Web Materials:

The Foreign Language Media Center has a variety of computer-based instructional programs including everything from text-based vocabulary & grammar drill and practice exercises to fully interactive multimedia listening comprehension activities involving video clips and audio segments. All such programs are accessible by language from Media Center workstations through desktop language folders, each housing icons for the programs installed in support of that language. In some cases, the use of Virtual Multimedia CDs (VCDs) allows complex language programs to be run from these workstations in the absence of the program CDs used to install them.

The Media Center has also developed some web-based instructional programs which are accessible to anyone with an internet connection. Most of these are a result of the Reading Assistant development program undertaken a number of years ago to explore the potential of web-based instructional methodologies. Listings of both Lab-based and Web-based instructional materials appear below.
