Oral
Exam Information
The oral exam will be given on
Jan. 29 (T) and Jan. 30 (W) and it will involve a brief interview (conducted
by your Instructor) with several "preguntas personales" and a role-play
scenario which you will do with a partner.
In order to prepare for the oral
exam:
-
Choose a partner (it may be the
same partner you had for the Taped Role-play Project). You will sign-up
(during the week before the exam) for a scheduled appointment to take your
oral exam on Jan. 29 or Jan. 30.
-
Everyone will take the oral exam
in pairs. The exam lasts a total of 10-12 minutes per group (approximately
5 minutes for the interview and approximately 5 minutes for the role-play
conversation). The ORAL EXAM WILL BE TAPE-RECORDED
by your instructor.
-
There are formal classes on Jan.
29 and Jan.30. Everyone has to show up for their assigned oral exam
time (a 10-12 minute time slot) and also regular class on these two
days. You will take the exam in your regular classroom, in your instructor's
office or a room arranged by your instructor.
-
For the role-play conversation there
are five possible choices (see below). You and your partner should
practice all five of these dialogues/conversations until you feel comfortable
with each of them. When you come to take the oral exam you will not
know in advance which of the five topics you will perform so it is important
to practice them all. When you show up for the exam you will
be asked to randomly select a card which has a topic on it. You will
not be able to see the topic (cards are face-down on the instructor's desk).
Whichever topic you pull you have to do that role-play dialogue.
These topics are the only five that will appear:
