French 106
The Writing Portfolio

During the course of the semester you will be required to complete two writing assignments.  Although the product is important, the process of writing is the main goal of this exercise.  Consequently each writing assignment will comprise several stages, all of which will be kept in your personal writing portfolio.  First, there will be in-class activities to prepare you for the topic.  Next, you will develop a first draft following the guidelines of the assignment.  This draft will be brought to class where it will be peer edited.  You will prepare a second draft based on the suggestions of the peer editor. This second draft will be returned to you with feedback from your Instructor.  At this stage, you will need to correct your third draft with all the necessary corrections.  Your Instructor will then return your third draft with additional comments.  The final version will be submitted with a reflection sheet giving you the opportunity to evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses.  Each stage of the writing process must be included in your portfolio, and must be completed on time in order to receive a final grade.  The first and second drafts as well as the final version will be typed, double spaced, and must include international characters.  The grade for any part of this writing process that is not received on the due date will be lowered by 10% for each day that it is late.
