DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES

GRADUATE EXCHANGE PROGRAM WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF CAEN

2007-2008 PROGRAM

General Information

The University of Delaware has an exchange agreement with the University of Caen, France.  According to the agreement, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures may send one graduate student in French to Caen every year in order to teach English and to further his/her studies of French.  The period of the exchange is a full academic year, September through June.

The exchange student will be eligible to take classes on campus at the University of Caen.  His/her registration fee will be waived.  S/he may earn up to nine transfer credits for the year.  Please note: students who have already received the maximum nine hours of transfer credits allowable under University policy may not receive credit for course work done on the Caen exchange program.  Please see the Graduate Student Handbook for additional rules governing the transfer of credits earned abroad.

The academic year in Caen begins at the end of September and finishes at the end of June.  There are Christmas and Easter vacations, as well as a February break.  The exact dates change each year, so if you are selected, check with the professor acting as Caen Liaison before you make your final travel plans.

Prerequisites

The candidate must be a native speaker of English, and hold a B.A. or M.A. in French.  S/he must currently be enrolled as a full-time student or teaching at the University of Delaware.  No accommodations can be made for candidates’ spouses or partners.
