THE TEMAS STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP
Award Goals and Description
The TEMAS Study Abroad Scholarship is the result of royalty donations for the sale of the TEMAS Customized Workbook at the University of Delaware. Terms of the award
The TEMAS scholarships consist of  one or more awards for the payment of applicable program fees.  The amount of this award will vary from year to year based on available funds, and an award will not exceed $500.

Criteria for selection
Candidates for the TEMAS scholarship should meet THREE basic criteria:

1. Outstanding performance in 100-level courses at the University of Delaware
2. Outstanding letters of recommendation* from 100-level faculty
3. Interest in pursuing further language study at the 200-level and beyond

** Note:  Priority will be given to students whose recommendations verify stellar attendance and participation in 100-level courses.

Selection procedure
1. Program directors may submit the name of ONE student for the consideration of the TEMAS Award Committee.  Directors will be asked to use a suggested format for their nomination.

2. Deadline for submission of candidate profiles will be _5 days_ after the Center for International Studies determines the Merit Scholarship winners.  The goal of the TEMAS Award Committee is to compensate for the shortage of scholarships for outstanding study abroad participants in Spanish speaking programs.

3. The TEMAS Award Committee (composed of all award donors: Ruth Bell, Carmen Finnicum, Crista Johnson, Stacey Hendrix, Suzanne Tierney-Gula, and Jorge Cubillos) will review the candidate pool, and select the recipients (number will vary depending on the amount of money available each year).

4. All decisions will be communicated to the Study Abroad Coordinator no later than 5 days after the candidate profiles are submitted to the committee.
