What is the Cost?

The cluster is offered as two courses which must be taken together.

If you are a Delaware public school educator, through the State Summer School for Teachers Program, you may take the course for the $40 in fees ($15 General Fee + $25 Registration Fee) per Summer Session (includes both these courses).

If you are not a Delaware public school educator, you can take the courses and receive university academic credits.  The tuition for this pair of graduate courses is $1,052 for DE Residents and $2,668 for Non-residents (plus the same $40 in fees as above).

How Will I Benefit from My Participation?

As a Delaware public school educator, you will earn graduate credits from UD.  But, if you wish to opt for the Professional Development Cluster (option #1 below), you must declare your choice on the first day of class.  Only one of the following can be entered into your records on the DEEDS system later:

(1) a 90-hour Professional Development Cluster credit; or
(2) university graduate credits for two courses.

Both options satisfy the 90-hour Professional Development requirement for license renewal.  Successful completion of the requirements for option #1 by cluster participants will result in a 2% increase on the state portion of their salary for five years.

As a Non-Delaware public school educator, you may take the courses and earn UD graduate credits.
