Gary Ferguson

A specialist of the French Renaissance, Gary Ferguson has published widely on medieval and early modern French literature and culture, in particular in the areas of the history of religion, women’s writing, and gender and queer studies. His most recent book is Queer (Re)Readings in the French Renaissance: Homosexuality, Gender, Culture (Ashgate, 2008). Professor Ferguson is a core faculty member in the Women’s Studies Program, a former Coordinator of the interdisciplinary minor in Sexualities and Gender Studies, and has been a visiting professor at the Université Paris 13-Paris Nord and the Université Rennes 2­-Haute Bretagne. Currently serving as Vice-President of the Société française d’Etude du Seizième Siècle, he is also a member of the Council of the Renaissance Society of America and of the Delegate Assembly of the Modern Language Association of America.
