After arriving at our hotel, Las Cabañitas, from which there is a beautiful view of the Arenal volcano, we will go to Tabacón Hot Springs. This is a stream whose mineral waters are heated (from 80-102 degrees F) by the same forces which keep the Arenal volcano active and spewing rocks and lava. The stream meanders through the exotically landscaped areas creating a series of descending pools of varying temperatures in which people can sit to enjoy the theurapeutic effects of the hot water (there are those who believe that these waters are good for the treatment of skin problems, arthritis and muscular pains). As you can see in the photo, there is also a small waterfall under which you can sit for a massage, or go behind to enjoy the effects of a sauna. Some of the water has been diverted to a swimming pool for those who feel safer in still waters. We will be eating in the restaurant and should be able to enjoy the Superbowl. |
