| Dancing is one of the most exciting aspects of Hispanic culture. Salsa, merengue, cumbia, bolero are only a few of the many dance rhythm you will hear in Costa Rica. We have therefore included 3 dance lessons as part of the culture class. We will all learn the basic steps to the salsa, merengue, cumbia and bolero--or rather, YOU will learn, and then you will have to dance with ME as part of the final exam on culture! (I'll do just about anything to get a dance partner!) But don't be scared! This is not choreographed dancing! This is REAL dancing--you learn the basic step to follow the rhythm, then it's up to you and your partner to decide how complicated or energetic you want to make it. Your host families will be more than happy to help you learn since dancing is an important form of socializing in their lives. You will also find plenty of discos with American music, and even a place called "The Beatles Bar" which offers kareoke! | |
