Contemporary Latin America - Mexico:
  Taught in English. (3 cr)
Itroduction to contemporary Latin America, its culture, its people, their way of life and the issues confronting them. In Merida, this course gives an overview of the Yucatan of today--its history, politics, economic growth and importance, cultural events, music, folklore, present-day Maya population, impact of immigration, conservation efforts and unique geography.  Lectures given by local professionals and experts are an integral part of this course, as are vening events and short excursions to sites of local interest.
Restrictions: Not for Span Minor credit. May be repeated for credit when taken on different study abroad programs
Foreign Language Certificate: This course counts toward a Spanish Language Certificate. See below.
