Top Financial Services Questions

When will I see my financial aid award for next year?

Student Financial Services is currently processing FAFSA applications for the 2013-2014 academic year. If you have already submitted your FAFSA, we encourage you to review your "To Do" list on My Finances to determine whether or not there is additional information, e.g., verification, needed before we can finalize your aid eligibility.

Students will be notified of their financial aid eligibility for 2013-2014 by mid-July, shortly after official tuition/fee rates are released for the University.

How do I grant my parent/guardian access to My Finances?

Follow these Steps to Grant Parent/Guardian Access

  • Students will need to login to their UDSIS account
  • Click the "Grant Parent My Finances Access" link under the "Finances" section
  • You will be taken to Parent/Guardian Services Administration website
  • To grant access to a new user:
    • Under the "Invite a parent/guardian" section, input the email address of your parent/guardian that you are authorizing access, select the relationship and check the My Finances box.
    • Click the "Send Invitation" button and your parent/guardian will receive an email inviting them to create their Parent/Guardian Services account
  • To grant access to an existing user:
    • If your parents/guardians email address is already listed under the "My parents/guardians" or "Pending invitations" section, ensure the My Finances box is checked.
How do I pay the student bill?

Payment of charges on the student account may be made online using an online check (ACH payment) or via credit card. We also accept mailed checks, or the bill can be paid in person at the cashier's office located in the Student Services building. We accept MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card. All payments made with a credit card will be assessed a 2.75% surcharge from the payment processing company, CashNet, while ACH payments are free of charge. An online payment is the quickest and most convenient method to make a payment to your account. You can pay by logging into My Finances and selecting the option of your choosing. If you choose an online check as your payment method, you will be prompted for your bank routing and account number. The online site will show you where these numbers can be located on your check. For those without access to My Finances, a payment can be made with just the Student ID number and method of payment through our Payment Only link in the top left corner of our website.

My financial aid does not meet my expenses. What are my options?

If your financial aid does not meet your expenses, you may want to consider either a Federal Direct PLUS (Parent) loan or an alternative loan. Federal Direct PLUS loans are federal loans available to parents of dependent students. Alternative loans are non-federal loans offered through a bank or other lending institution. Information about both types of loan programs can be found here.

How do I request a refund?

Generally, refunds are made available around the free/drop add period of each semester. You may request a refund after your financial aid has disbursed to your account and an overpayment (credit) is indicated on your account. To request a refund, simply logon to UDSIS and look for the "Finance" tab. From there, select the "Request a Refund" link and follow the instructions. Note: Refunds are processed either through Direct Deposit (quickest method) or by check.
