FIT Visiting Student Program
The visiting student program is a cooperative arrangement between the University of Delaware (UD) and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) that permits students to attend FIT for one year without the necessity to transfer. Courses taken at FIT are applied towards the Bachelors of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising or Apparel Design at the University of Delaware. Students who successfully complete the prescribed courses at both institutions qualify for an Associate's degree from FIT and a Bachelor's degree from UD.
The fashion programs at the University of Delaware and the FIT visiting student program complement each other. They are not designed to compete. The FIT option gives students an opportunity to broaden their educational background and to gain additional knowledge about the fashion industry in the largest fashion center in the USA. While attending FIT students have direct exposure to prominent designers and retailers in the fashion industry. A year in New York also provides students with diverse cultural experiences.
