III.               Remarks

Karen Stein, director Office of Education Assessment and the chair of the University Education Assessment Council: Sustaining a Student Learning Environment at UD. The University of Delaware is initiating a university-wide student learning outcomes assessment program that asks the questions, What do we want our students to know? Did students learn what we wanted them to learn?

Four steps for assessing learning:

1.      Establish learning goals/outcomes

2.      Look for learning opportunities, identify where students are getting the opportunity to practice learning goals

3.      Assessment

4.      Using results

Assessment fellows program. The Office of Education Assessment is looking for assessment fellows to lead their programs’ assessment.  Faculty interested in being a fellow should contact Ud-outcomes@udel.edu or Karen Stein (kstein@udel.edu).
