SUBJECT:       Regular Faculty Senate Meeting and General Faculty Meeting October 10, 2005

 

            In accordance with Section IV, paragraph 6 of the Constitution, the regular meeting of the University Faculty Senate will be held on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. in room 104 Gore Hall.  The General Faculty meeting will be held this month as well.  This meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. just prior to the Faculty Senate meeting, and will be held in room 104 Gore Hall.   Please make every effort to attend this meeting.

 

I certify that hard copies of the approval page for each undergraduate and graduate studies academic item on the agenda are filed in the Faculty Senate Office with the appropriate signatures of approval up through the Chair of the Faculty Senate Coordinating Committee on Education.  The Agenda will be as follows:

B.     Resolutions:

 

 

1.      Recommendation from the Faculty Senate Coordinating Committee on  Education (Dallas Hoover, Chair) with the concurrence of the Executive Committee (Avron Abraham, Chair) to transfer the Department of Geology from the College of Arts and Sciences to the College of Marine Studies (attachment)

 

Whereas           faculty in the Department of Geology have voted unanimously to transfer from the College of Arts and Sciences to the College of Marine Studies, to become part of a College dedicated to both marine and geological studies, and

 

Whereas,          faculty in the College of Marine Studies unanimously endorse the transfer of the Department of Geology to the College of Marine Studies, and

 

Whereas,          the proposal for the transfer of the Department of Geology from the College of Arts and Sciences to the College of Marine Studies is acceptable to the Deans of each College and to the Provost, be it therefore

 

Resolved,         that the Faculty Senate recommends the proposed transfer of the Department of Geology from the College of Arts and Sciences to the College of Marine Studies.
