Draft Proposal for Review of Provisional Programs
WHEREAS, New or significantly revised graduate and undergraduate programs are granted provisional status; and
WHEREAS, It is the function of the Graduate Studies Committee and the Undergraduate Studies Committee to make recommendations regarding permanent status of new or significantly revised graduate and undergraduate provisional programs based on program reviews; and
WHEREAS, It is important to define timely review schedules i.e., such that evaluation data required for review is reasonably available; and
WHEREAS, It is equally important to define review criteria and the evidence required for reports of program reviews; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That all provisional doctoral programs be reviewed for permanent status during the 7th academic year following September 1 of the same calendar year as the date of approval by the Senate; and
RESOLVED, That all provisional master programs be reviewed for permanent status during the 5th academic year following September 1 of the same calendar year as the date of approval by the Senate; and
RESOLVED, That all provisional bachelor programs be reviewed for permanent status during the 5th academic year following September 1 of the same calendar year as the date of approval by the Senate; and
RESOLVED, That a status report for all probationary doctoral programs be submitted within the 3rd and 5th years; and
RESOLVED, That a status report for all probationary master and bachelor programs be submitted within the 3rd year; and
RESOLVED, That all provisional graduate program reviews and status reports be reviewed by the Graduate Studies Committee with recommendations forwarded to the Coordinating Committee; and
RESOLVED, That all provisional undergraduate reviews and status reports be reviewed by the Undergraduate Studies Committee with recommendations forwarded to the Coordinating Committee; and
RESOLVED, That the Graduate and Undergraduate Studies Committee develop review criteria, for both status reports and final program reviews; and
RESOLVED, That any program that
does not meet these status reports and final program review criteria may be
subject to disestablishment by the Faculty Senate
